RULES–FIFA/USSF Laws of the Game apply unless otherwise noted below:

1. Play is 5 versus 5 including the keeper (6 vs. 6 on U8 and U10 teams). Teams may add one more player if leading team is ahead by 10 points. Teams may play down with a minimum of 3 players.

2. Teams must have 3 players present for the match to begin (4 players for the 6 v 6 age groups).  Coed teams must have a minimum of one female to begin.

3. The forfeit score is 10-0.  A team will forfeit the match if they do not have enough players to begin the match by 10 minutes after the start time.

4. Youth games (HS and younger) are 20 minutes for each half and 1-2 minute half-time. Adult games are three 16 minute periods with 1-2 minute breaks.

5. Substitutions are unlimited but must be made while play continues. Play is not stopped for player or keeper substitutions. The player coming off the field is not allowed to interfere with play. The player subbing out must be within 5 feet of door before replacement can come on. Goalie substitutions may be made during natural stoppage or before kickoff with permission from the official. Permission for keeper change may be denied if in the judgment of the official would deny a quick restart. Restart is an indirect free kick from where the ball was when play is stopped.

6. The ball can be played in any direction on any free kick including the kick off except for a penalty kick. The ball must be played forward on a penalty kick.

7. If the ball hits the side netting (over the wall) or ceiling structure, play is stopped and an indirect kick is awarded to the other team beneath the structure hit. If a player kicks the ball into ANY PART (in bounds or out of bounds) of the ceiling, lights, or HVAC vents, the guilty player will sit out for two minutes (Blue Card) or until an opposing goal is scored, and their team plays 1 player down. It is not considered a violation if the ball is deflected by the keeper or other player and hits the ceiling. All such stoppages at each end of the arena (goal line) result in either a goal kick or a corner kick depending on the last touch.

8. No slide tackles are allowed - IN ANY DIVISION. A slide tackle will result in an indirect free kick for the opposing team and potentially a caution (yellow card) or send off (red card) to the player. Slide blocking is not the same as slide tackling. The slide must occur in the vicinity of another player to award the free kick.

9. No Boarding is allowed. Shoulder to shoulder charge is a foul when the player hits the wall. Shielding is not a foul.

10. Goalies may not punt or drop-kick ball.  If a goalkeeper throws the ball into the goal the result is a goal.  Goalie possession will be 6 seconds before throw in.

11. For any free kick, the opposing team must be at least 4 yards from the ball or on the goal line. You cannot score directly from any restart, including a kick off (IFK), unless the restart is a direct free kick.

12. A caution (Yellow Card) for any offense (Major Penalty) requires the involved player to sit out for 2 minutes and the team plays 1 player down. If the opposing team scores during the 2-minute period, the player sitting out is not allowed to re-enter the game.

13. A send-off (Red Card) for any offense requires the player involved to leave the field immediately and the team plays 1 player down for 5 minutes regardless of the number of goals scored. The player is suspended for the next game and is not allowed to play. If future infractions occur, a one-year suspension from the indoor center may occur.  If the red card is given because of striking, violent conduct, or abuse, the offender may receive additional sanctions.

14.  A Blue Card may also be used during the game.  A blue carded player is allowed to re-enter if a goal is scored within the 2-minute penalty.

15. All teams must have rosters set by the conclusion of mid-season discount period. Teams may not add players after mid-season registration has closed.

16. If an unregistered player is discovered playing, a forfeit is immediately awarded to the other team.  The forfeit score is 10-0.  No unregistered players are allowed on the field of play.

17. During the tournament games, only players that have been rostered for at least 2 games in the season are allowed to play during the tournament.

18.  The default method of determining league standings is the point system, but league directors reserve the right to use winning percentage if it is deemed more appropriate and fair for a given division.

19. If a winner needs to be decided (tournament), the procedure will be:

            A. any penalties from the game will continue in the overtime

            B. One 5 minute ‘golden goal’ (sudden death) overtime will be played 5 v 5

            C. if there is no score, a 3 minute ‘golden goal’ (sudden death) overtime will be played with each team removing a player (4 v 4)

            D. if there is no score, each team will remove another player (3 vs. 3) and will play until one team scores without further reduction of players

20. All players must sign waiver before entering field. We do have a “play at own risk” policy but a waiver is needed to be eligible to play.  A parent must sign the waiver for all players under 18 years of age.

21. If a reschedule request is made more than 48 hours in advance, we will do our best to accommodate.  However, field space is extremely limited and reschedules will often be on alternative days.  The opposing team will have the right to accept the reschedule request or take the forfeit.  Cancellations made less than 48 hours before game time may result in a forfeit for the team requesting the cancellation.  The forfeit score is 10-0.

** NEW FORFEIT POLICY:  IF YOU ARE A NO-SHOW, OR CANCEL LESS THAN 6 HOURS IN ADVANCE, YOUR TEAM WILL BE SUBJECT TO A $35 FORFEITURE FEE.  YOUR TEAM CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE SCHEDULE UNTIL PAYMENT IS COLLECTED.

22. Staff will check rosters and IDs and make sure all players on the field are eligible to play. Do not enter the field until you have checked in with a staff member. This is very important: only players who have signed the waiver and paid fees are to be allowed on the field. Youth teams will also be checked in each game against the team waiver.  If an unregistered or ineligible player is on the field, a 10-0 forfeit score will immediately be awarded to the opposing team.

ANY UNREGISTERED PERSON THAT ENTERS THE FIELD DOES SO AT HIS OWN RISK.

CO-ED RULES – In addition to the rules above:

1. At least two females must be playing on the field or a team can play one down with one female on the field.  If no females are present, then a 10-0 forfeit victory will be awarded to the opposing team.

2. A female goal is worth 2 points; a male goal is 1. A shot that originates from a female player and results as an 'own goal' off the male player is scored as 2 goals.

AGE GROUP RULES:

* U10 AGE Group Rule has been modified for Winter 2018:

U10 is open to players born on or after 8/1/07.
